In 1937, Hollywood came to Tifton.  In February of '37, the Tift opened with its premier performance of "Pennies From Heaven". For the next 50 years, the theatre delighted Tifton with stars of the silver screen in Blockbuster releases and theatrical productions. The theatre saw three wars come and go before it went dark in 1987.

The community rallied to support the effort to refurbish the historic Tift Theatre. Many were nostalgic for the theatre, others realized the significance the Arts could play in the community, but no matter the reason, the community was a stong impetus in mobilizing this effort. Citizens and businesses donated one-third of the funds needed to refurbish the building, not to mention the counless hours of time spent cleaning the facility, finally culminating in a gala fundraising grand re-opener, sponsored by Tifton's Olympic committee - Focus the Flame, to inaugurate the theatre.

The 612 seat theatre has been restored to it's original beauty, down to the circus themed wall accents, originally created by a Ringling Brothers artist.  With our technical capiblities, the theatre has the ability to host a variety of perforimg arts productions as well as conferences, private rentals and weddings.
